Tips for Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome is the worst.

And sadly it keeps a lot of very talented (mostly female) photographers from sharing their gifts with the world in a big and meaningful way.

I don't want that to happen to you.

If you are struggling with imposter syndrome, know you are not alone! Many of us (myself included) do. But don't let it get the better of you!

Instead, follow these tips for overcoming imposter syndrome:

👉🏻Feel the fear, then do it anyway. I promise the more you do the thing that scares you, the less scary it will become!

👉🏻Acknowledge the voice, then tell it to step aside! Chances are, that little voice is not trying to be mean... it's trying to protect you. So thank it for trying to help, then tell it to keep its opinions to itself—you've got this.

👉🏻Share your feelings with others. When you do, you'll realize that just about EVERYONE has struggled with it at some point. And logically, we all can't be imposters...it's just not statistically possible.

Remember, imposter syndrome is just a fancy word for fear.

And fear is very different from facts.
