As an on-location photographer, you walk into a different work environment at every session.  You have furniture to navigate, windows and overhead lighting to consider, and you need the skills to be able to walk in, assess your situation quickly, and make a plan for how you are going to approach lighting your clients in the given environment. When working on location, chances are, you are also working in confined spaces.  So that means you may need to make different choices around what equipment you use and how to set it up.
