Jennifer Brotchie: Rebranding after Moving

Jennifer Brotchie is a California-based film photographer who was a student of my artificial lighting course, the Missing Link. I am sharing with you a conversation that we had back in December of 2019.

Jennifer was an outdoor, lifestyle photographer in Hawaii. When her family moved to California, she was able to establish herself in her new home as a film photographer who uses natural light!

HIGHLIGHTS

Artificial lighting makes Jennifer's work consistent.

Jennifer's move from Hawaii to California allowed her to relocate, rebuild, and rebrand her business. She also made the transition from digital to film and natural to artificial light!

Jennifer wanted to stand out from the other photographers in her area. Since no one shoots with artificial lighting in her area, it really sets her apart from everyone else. Now she prefers to shoot film and strobes more than she desires to go outside to shoot.

It is liberating for her to be able to shoot anywhere in any condition, without being afraid of doing it.

Worried about the investment of artificial lighting?

According to Jennifer, investing in yourself and your craft is always worth it. When you are not a slave to the weather, you have the ability to take on many more clients.

Artificial light makes editing much more simple, due to the consistency of the images. Jennifer's turnaround time is often times just a day!
