Inside the Six-Figure Studio: "What is going on with your Instagram?!"

In this episode, I'm sharing another conversation we had in one of our calls for my group coaching program, the Six-Figure Studio. A question actually came up about some of the changes I'm making in my own business. I decided to share this snippet with you, in case you had the same question too!

HIGHLIGHTS

A student noticed some changes on my Instagram and started to wonder what was going on.

Usually most of the photos I share are in that soft, light and airy look. Lately though, I've been sharing a lot of dark and moody photos. One of my students asked if I was pivoting and heading more in that direction, so we had a conversation about it!

Dark and moody has always been a part of my work. Usually for black and whites or individual portraits, I go for a dark and moody look. I do have a new class out called Dark & Moody, which explains why you have been starting to see some more of that work!

When I started teaching lighting, it was based around a pain point I used to have as a passionate, natural light photographer. I created a system to get that natural looking light using strobes and flash and started teaching it. I wanted to show that you could have that light and airy look while using strobes and flash. Because of that, I was always sharing light and airy work.

What I've found is once people learned the light and airy style, it can be hard to see what else they could create with strobes and flash. Dark & Moody is essentially the next level. I still teach the simple, one-light approach, but I take students on the next phase of the journey. I don't necessarily see it as a pivot, but instead as a continuation of insight into my own work and brand.

The reason I am calling out the dark and moody style more is because I'm excited about sharing the new course with you. You can sign up for Dark & Moody: A One-Light Approach to Dramatic Portraits with Strobes and Flash here!
