Sandra Coan's Favorite Things: What You Need to Be a Studio Photographer

‘Tis the season for gift giving. But why not treat yourself this to a little something this Holiday Season as well! You deserve it!

To make your shopping easier, I’m sharing a few of my favorite things! Oh, and if you decide to pick up any of the Westcott gear I’m sharing, be sure to use the coupon code COAN10 to recieve 10% off your order (offer good through Jan. 1, 2020)

Westcott 7’ Parabolic Umbrella

I’m completely obsessed with this modifier. It creates very natural looking light and it’s super affordable. I was so impressed that i went out and bought three! No joke! I use the white one in my studio, but also love the black with the white interior! I also use the diffusion panel on mine!

Westcott FJ400 Strobe

The newest strobe head from Westcott is an INCREDIBLE deal! Not only does it work seamlessly with their umbrellas and their rapid box system, but overall it’s easy to use and definitely delivers on light quality. I also love the short recycle time — this strobe head can fire over and over again with very little time needed in between flashes. And at less than $600, this is a screaming deal.

V-Flat World Portable V-Flat

I love my V-Flat. It’s such a versatile piece of equipment as it can be used as a white backdrop, black backdrop, reflector, or as a way to darken your shadows. Because of how little room it takes up, it’s perfect if you don’t have a lot of space for a studio. In fact, I used just my V-Flat to create a pop up studio in my CLOSET. Savage Seamless Background Paper in Coral

The Savage Seamless Backgrounds are my FAVORITE. In fact, I own half a dozen of them in various colors — my favorite being “Coral” because it’s the prettiest pink. The colors are all beautifully saturated and the paper responds so well to artificial light.

Bullet Journal

If you know me, you know that I can’t live without my bullet journal, aptly referred to as “BuJo”. I use daily to stay organized and inspired!

The Missing Link

The Missing Link is my signature lighting course that teaches both film and digital photographers how to create natural-looking light with strobes and flash. The simple skill of creating my own light helped me completely transform my brand and my business. And I’ve seen it do the same for the hundreds of photographers in my course community! If mastering artificial light in your 2020 goal, this class is for you! But to make sure you’re a good fit, definitely check out my Free Webinar. Sign up for a time to watch by following this link!

Happy Holidays friends!

xoxo,
Sandra
